About Me

GetAttachmentA born and raised Queenslander, I have lived in Brisbane for my entire 22 years of life. Although spoilt with sunshine and beaches, having such stability has ignited a yearning for travel and exploration which only gets stronger with every new place I visit. Writing is my passion and the older I get, the more I appreciate just how invaluable life experience is in developing this skill.

Recognition I received for my academic achievements at Saint Rita’s College motivated me to continue my education, and I am now in my final semester of a Double Bachelor of Business/Journalism – majoring in Public Relations – at Queensland University of Technology. During this time, I have contributed to the magazine ‘Universe,’ volunteered at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival – Brisbane, been a lead anchor on QUT NEWS, completed an internship at Channel 9 Network, accomplished work experience with Cosmopolitan magazine, and completed a six-month internship as Lifestyle Editor for award-winning start up organisation, Students4Hire. I am currently a Public Relations assistant at Red Agency, Brisbane.  A significant experience for me has been completing one semester studying abroad in California, USA. Being educated and living in a foreign country contributed enormously to both my personal and intellectual growth and made me even more apt for the public relations and journalism fields.

My future

Thinking about the future excites me greatly. I aim to establish myself in the field of journalism and/or public relations, and take advantage of absolutely every opportunity that comes my way. Where PR is concerned, at this stage I see myself working for an agency rather than a corporate in-house department. When it comes to writing, I am particularly impassioned by travel, lifestyle and human interest stories and am inspired by a variety of blogs, publications and progrms. Some favourites include Cosmopolitan, Getaway, and Get Lost Magazine.  Ideally, I would love to work for one of these organisations. While this goal may sound cliche, I have no shame in it. I am confident in my ability to succeed.

I have a keen eye when it comes to both industries of Public Relations and Journalism and am aware of how each are rapidly evolving. Despite the opinions of some that the practice of Journalism is dying in wake of the technological revolution, I believe it can not only be maintained but enhanced if technology is embraced correctly. I look forward to being involved in this, regardless of which field I fall into.

My degree

Choosing my degree was a far-from-difficult decision. I have always had a curiosity for the world around me and been energised by people. These traits combined with my writing and social capabilities made a Double Bachelor in Public Relations/Journalism the perfect choice.

Throughout my studies I have mastered various writing styles and discovered hidden passions for design and photography. Additionally, through working as both a radio then a television journalist for ‘QUT News’ I gained invaluable real-world experience by obtaining and conducting interviews, compiling and presenting news stories, and working to a tight deadline. I look forward to applying these skills in the workforce.
